NELCWIT’s mission is to work within the community to build safety, justice, and dignity for all. Through community organizing initiatives, we focus more explicitly on supporting and developing the leadership of NELCWIT’s program participants. In 2021-2022, we are working to shift the organization toward a more actively social justice-oriented model for addressing domestic and sexual violence in our community and society.

Our approach to community organizing uses popular education and collective action to address violence in our community, building community power to end cycles of abuse and promote the rights of all. We also initiate collaborations with other social service and social change organizations to identify common priorities and facilitate joint action, legislative and advocacy campaigns, and public education initiatives. If you are interested in collaborating with us on a community project, please reach out to the community organizer, LeeAnne Lemaire, at leeanne@nelcwit.org.

We are now offering workshops to community organizations and groups

on the basics of Domestic Violence, Sexual Violence, and Sexual Harassment.

Almost twenty-seven years ago, NELCWIT was a lifesaver for me and my three kids, and none of us have forgotten. I'm just sharing this with you to let you know what a huge impact the courageous and dedicated women of NELCWIT, and the vital, top-notch services they provide, have had across time. I can't, and wouldn't want to, imagine my life without your grace and wisdom.
